A small horse, larger than a pony, sturdily-built with strong bones and abundant feathering on the lower legs. Bred by the Romany to be a wagon horse (though a type rather than a breed). The black and white variety are piebald, white and any other colour are skewbald. The Irish Cob and the Gypsy Cob are almost identical, varying mostly in size. I can never tell the difference.
