SMITH AND PEPPER

Now the museum for the jewellery quarter of Birmingham, Smith and Pepper was a family-owned jewellery manufacturing firm located at 77-78 Vyse Street. When the business was closed by the family in 1981, the door was shut and locked, leaving the works exactly as it had been on its last day of operation. The building was bought by Birmingham City Council and the museum was established to preserve part of the city’s industrial heritage.
